Another disaster with accommodation this time through Booking.Com.
Its a bit out of the way but that's not the main concern. It stared with a 20 minute wait out side on the street before we were shown in....this is after being asked twice by email to give them an arrival time ..this we did. We phoned to say we were at the door 3 times....later told they didn't get the calls, next rang the door bell every minute, told it doesn't always work.... if they hadn't taken our money we would have left. It gets worse....net curtains on the bedroom windows and we are on the ground floor, a cross the road is Hurry Currys, with neon flashing lights until 11pm..... got the picture; Ron a very unhappy chappy. We did look at moving again but the added financial loss is too much....so its towels over windows, heads under pillows a few wines a couple of disprins and we get through each night.
Now for the town..it's big, the old town /city is reasonably compact so lots of walking but we have discovered that we get free public transport as seniors.
Have seen a number of historic churches as you do in Europe, an old city gate, historic clock tower and the massive Prague Castle with its complex of buildings. Its on a hill over looking the town, human civilization has existed on the site from 3000 BC. You can walk to the castle but we took the tram.
The history is strange to us , Kings, Queens and nobles of Slavic/Prussian backgrounds..... lots of wars based on land and religion.
Saw the Charles Bridge, that once was the only bridge connecting the Castle to the old Town city as the whole city area expanded.
There are lots of other impressive public and private buildings....there are lots of tourists, and the spoken and written language is a challenge for us.
PICS
See all of the above attractions
If you can find Sandies Facebook Page there's even better stuff.
There should be one more exciting post from Prague.... so stay with it.
exciting
