So with all the necessary pills taken and a few spare in the "man" bag we we ready to go.
Unfortunately dear hostess didn't tell us the free shuttle didn't run Sundays.... standing around for 20 odd min confirmed that. So we had to retrace the 1km already spent getting there to walk back and continue the walk into city proper port area ,approx 25min further on.
It was here the "Real Boss" took control, declaring we had walked far enough , so onto the ferry to see the 5 very special CINQUE TERRE Hamlets, each one clinging to the cliff faces or concealed in a miniature inlets. 44euro saw both of us on the ferry with a one way ticket to Monterosso the last of the 5.. This sea trip taking about 90 min with port calls. We had done this trip before knowing it gives great views of each hamlet as you approach and dock.
We were hungry by 3pm so lunch was in order ....a seafood tasting plate was shared with great relish..all washed down with a very nice local white blend. Note the emphasis on the food , believe me after 4.5 days of next to nothing to eat this lunch was a small feast...could mean I'm almost ok!
After exploring this lunch time town we caught the train back to La Spezia, where we faced a 50 min walk from the station to the apartment.
It was a good day out.... fine conditions a little sun but we did have a very cool breeze on the ferry.
The " Boss" did really well.
In closing I should say I have spent a bit of time tonight reviewing a few of the last posts
I now hope I have corrected all the spelling and major grammar errors
You might just have to ignore the flaws...usually the meaning is pretty obvious.
