It was along day on the train from Naples to La Spezia with a change of train in Rome but all went smoothly. A little tension developed from the station to our apartment... the taxi drive couldn't find the right end of the street which was divided by the main road system... he demanded the phone number of the owner..we could tell some harsh words were exchanged . He then complained to us about the growth of airb&b and how it was taking over the city....I've got some sympathy for this attitude, it is putting the locals out of their own house.
The owner ..a women was very bubbly as she took us through the 85 sq mtr apartment
In the speil she didn't mention once the fact the noise from the main road was pretty loud, double glazing or not
That night we purchased a few things at the local big supermarket
That's when my trouble started,,,what has Italy got against me..
It started with nausea , lead to full on diarhoea and by 5pm yesterday afternoon Iwas in the ambulance car and off for 5hrs in the La Spezia General hospital. Tonight its the big nappy trick.... things can only get better from here.

Ouch. Sorry to read of your troubles. What a pity to get sick like that, but as you say the only way is up! Let's hope that is really soon. Air B&B seems to have had a range of unfortunate consequences! Don
